Vancouver is having one too, but I thought it was just the TV series, not that they edited the episodes to make a movie. I guess that's why I thought they were just showing the episodes from the trailer, haha.

Some new cuts, some new background, some new post effects. Pretty standard for the movies made from re-editing the TV scenes.

Nothing special really. But they grossed 1 billion yen out of the two movies..

Indeed, on this side of the ocean we used to burn the 1 billion yen (10 million USD) in the making of roughly 10 episodes of Futurama..lol.

A lot for a next-to-zero cost gekijoban edit of a late night anime, though. Eva Q grossed 5.1 billion, even Ghibli ones gross only around 5 billion, or 10 billion for occasional Miyazaki-directed ones. The market is dwindling these days.
