Reminds me of this Evangelion one-shot set after an AU Third Impact, where only Rei, Kaworu, and Shinji survived... and the latter has been reduced to a literal SKELETON sustained by Rei's powers, yet she keeps him unaware of it with telepathic illusion and sense-manipulation. And Kaworu calls her out on it in private.
